The International Journal of Development Education and Global Learning (IJDEGL) is seeking submissions for a special issue titled "Education and the Crisis of the ‘Liberal Order’", set to be published in May 2025. This issue will be edited by April Biccum from the Australian National University and Su-ming Khoo from the University of Galway.
This special issue focuses on Global Citizenship Education (GCE) as a multifaceted solution to the world's conflicts and challenges. There is an increasing demand to address crises within the liberal international order as waves of liberal, neoliberal, and post-neoliberal restructuring sweep the globe. This includes topics like chauvinism and nationalism taking control of education policies, authoritarianism, the far right's electoral gains, and the erosion of equality based on rights.
The editors are interested in contributions that address the existential crisis of the international order and explore GCE's role in navigating these global tensions and conflicts.
Key points for submission:
Theme: Education and the Crisis of the ‘Liberal Order’
Focus: Role of GCE in the current global context
Submission Deadline: 31st October 2024
Encouragement: Authors are encouraged to submit an abstract (300 - 500 words) or expression of interest before the full article submission.
