Nelson Mandela University is pleased to invite you to an engaging hybrid inter-university workshop titled, Critical Sustainability Literacies & the Civic University, on the 13th and 14th of November 2024.
To secure your spot, click here to RSVP.
This workshop seeks to foster a deeper understanding of sustainability that embraces the merger of social, cultural, economic, affective, planetary, and environmental perspectives. These concepts are frequently treated as separate, but this workshop aims to demonstrate how they can converge in transformative ways.
The workshop will feature a thought-provoking presentation by Sharon Stein from the University of British Columbia, titled “Beyond Sustainability: Repurposing the University in Times of Ecological Crisis.” Participants will gain insights from presentations by the Engagement Office of the Engagement and Transformation Portfolio, Hubs of Convergence partners, and diverse disciplinary perspectives, including Botany, Architecture, and Natural Resource Management.
Closer to the event, registered participants will receive the Zoom link, venue details, and a finalized program. For any queries, please contact Fortunate Jwara at Fortunate.Jwara@mandela.ac.za.
